Popular Halloween Costumes

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Costume popularity changes each year. The choices are influenced by what is hot on TV and at the movies, as well as what is going on in the news. Retailers receive a list each year from the National Retail Federation advising them of what costumes are likely to be popular for the upcoming Halloween season. Some costumes are popular every year - fairies, princesses, vampires and Disney characters.

Popular Teen Costumes tend to fall into the Gothic sub-culture. Skulls, black and darkness are predominant. These costumes from the darker side of Halloween range from Vampires/Witches to Fallen Angels/Demons.

Baby Costumes are most often sweet and cute. Popular choices are Disney Characters and Animals. TV, Movies and Cartoons tend to influence the choices of young children. Their costumes range from Princesses/Fairies to Pirate/Star Wars/Power Rangers.

Popular adult costumes tend to be sexy, such as a sexy nurse, a nice-looking French maid, or a seductive vampire. Adults also go for the classic movie characters or famous people.

If you make your own costume you don’t need sewing skills. It is helpful if you do, but it isn’t necessary. Creativity is more essential. If you aren’t creative, do research on the web to get ideas. Check out your closet, attic and basement for items to use as part of your costume.

If your children are going out in the neighborhood for trick-or-treating be sure that they are safe. Attach some reflective material to their costume and give them a loot bag that is reflective as well. If they are wearing a mask, ensure they can see properly with it on. As well, reinforce with them to wait until they return home before they eat their candy.

Dressing up our pet dog or cat is something fun that we like to do. Whether your pet goes with you as you trick or treat or it stays at home to greet the trick-or-treaters, they should be allowed to participate in the festivities. Halloween is meant to be a fun day for everyone.

If you know what costume you want, you are ahead of the game. If not, do some research - stores, catalogs and online. There are thousands of costumes available, but order early so that you aren’t disappointed. Popular costumes and specialty sizes will sell out quickly. You don’t want to be still looking for a costume on October 30th.

Before you buy your costume be sure to take a look at Popular Halloween Costumes and Popular Costumes.

We can become whoever we want to become on Halloween. It’s the one day of the year where we can dare to be the characters in of our dreams. This holiday is all about having enjoyment and laughter. Kids and adults will admit to a spirit of fun as they don their Halloween costumes and prepare to eat all the extra sweets they’re sure to have. Take advantage of this one day and make sure you take the time to select just the right costume. If you don’t, things may not turn out so nice. http://www.costumecauldron.com/Kids-Belly-Dancer-Genie-Costumes.html

Be frightening or hilariously funny, on this day anything goes. Make the most out of this time of the year by getting into all the Halloween costumes and choosing one you’ll like wearing as well. Take account of your own personal tastes and then go for it. Will you be a rock star like Mick Jagger; or possibly a classic character like Wonder Woman. This is the one day to take off those conservative clothes and step outside of you into the costume filled world of Halloween.

Before you commit to a certain costume, consider where you plan to wear your new one night only persona. Certain costumes may not be appropriate for certain situations. For example, do you plan to wear that terribly revealing belly dancer outfit to the office? You would be better off to forgo the exotic performer for something more conservative.

Let’s say you do have a revealing outfit that you want to wear to the office; you can make it more conservative by putting on a leotard or tights instantly making it more conducive to the work environment. Have fun; just make sure you are appropriate.

You’ll find that many Halloween costumes speak a language of their own. Take a moment to consider what message you may be sending with your outfit. Thinking about this will help you in choosing a costume that fits the occasion. There will be certain costumes you may not want to wear around children. Older guests will also be more easily influenced by certain outfits. So while you want to have fun playing dress up this Halloween, remember to remain proper where possible.

Buying (or making) something that will be able to stand up to the task of being worn under various conditions will be your first job. You don’t want to have too many pieces that won’t stay in place; there should be nothing sliding off of you every ten seconds. Halloween costumes should be exciting and attract attention, but they must also be wearable.

When it comes to Halloween costumes, they need to be durable. The last thing you want is to end up frustrated because of your costume selection. You want all head pieces and masks to stay where they belong. Do what you can to ensure that you don’t regret your selection.

A clever Halloween costume is going to be a wonderful conversation starter. Putting in a little time can make all the difference. There are certain outfits we see year after year. Sure, the occasional variation may make them stand out, but who do you really remember from last year’s party? The guest who came in the watered down French Maid costume, or the one who dressed as Cher, full wig, makeup, microphone, the works, and was a guy! http://www.costumecauldron.com/Kids-Biblical-Jesus-Nun-Costumes.html

This is Halloween; this is where Halloween costumes have the potential to go down in history. It is an opportunity you don’t want to let pass by not preparing yourself to join in the festivities. Plan right and you’ll have a great Halloween filled with lots of Halloween costumes that will make the holiday even more exciting. Edited by Glinda Zuladra

What About Wearing Stylish In Adult Halloween Costumes On October 31St?

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

Adult Halloween costumes need to be planned out carefully when worn. When you’ve already gotten past the point of puberty you may not be so easily accepted wearing one. But you can still sport adult Halloween costumes despite what others may have to say. The only thing you’ll have to decide on is what men’s costume (or women’s costume) would be the most appropriate for you this Halloween.

The company you keep might help you decide this all-important, yearly question. Do you have a regular tradition of picking out an outfit with your best bud to wear at their Halloween get together? If so the answer is easy.

Where will you be seen in your costume, and how many times will you have to wear your tights and wig around Halloween? Some people dress up every chance they get, wearing the latest trendy adult Halloween costumes to work, school, and holiday parties. If you have plenty of places to don your once a year look, then by all means, dive right in.

Now you might not want to wear your adult Halloween costumes to work if the environment is extremely professional. To be on the safe side, check to see if it?s okay before wearing anything outrageous when Halloween comes. If it turns out you can wear your costume to work, remember it is still your job. This means that the women?s costumes shouldn?t show their breasts, this isn?t appropriate office wear. And while it?s not as much of a problem, men should use discretion as well.

But those men still better be on the lookout for any mix-messages his costume might be sending. Men should stay away from adult Halloween costumes that have bad language or improper images. These types of men?s costumes should be saved for after work affairs.

Consider the amount of space you have at your place of employment as well. If you work in a tight cubical, you should keep your costume small. An adult Halloween costume does not necessarily have to be a full body affair. A simple headband with cute ears, or maybe a little face paint, could be enough to feel festive without becoming intrusive to your coworkers.

This same principal can be applied to Halloween parties. If you must, ask your host or hostess who will be in attendance. Even if the gathering was purely adults in previous years. You never know when someone may bring along little Johnny or Susie this year because no sitter was available.

Did you enjoy feeling like a complete fool last year when you showed up at the get together in a gaudy clown suit, to find that no one else dressed up for the occasion? Remember, it never hurts to ask ahead of time if anyone else will be celebrating with a costume. It could save you a bit of embarrassment, unless of course, you have no concern for the opinions of others. In which case, more power to you!

Keep in mind that dressing up in any of the vast choices of adult Halloween costumes can be just as exciting for grownups as well as kids. Just remember to choose your adult Halloween costumes with your own personality in mind; also, it is critical for men and women to make sure that their outfits are appropriate for the occasion. It is only necessary to follow a few guidelines to ensure that you avoid any social mishaps this Halloween season. Edited by Glinda Zuladra

Create the Perfect Costume with Halloween Wigs & Accessories

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Halloween is loved by children of all ages, both young and old. One of the most exciting decisions about Halloween is choosing just the right costume to express your holiday glee. Whether you choose to go as something that may slink out of a horror story or something as ethereal as skipping out of a fairytale, you are sure to find just what you need, as long as you give yourself enough time to choose what you want and make sure everything fits right before All Hallows Eve. Once you have your costume picked out, you should then go about choosing just the right Halloween accessories to emphasis your costume.

Halloween accessories need not be expensive. There are options to fit every budget. Depending on your costume, you may be in need of very specific accessories. Maybe a retro Harlem Globetrotter suits you best. Well then the costume wouldn’t be complete without the right Halloween wig now would it? Other popular Halloween wigs include the beehive, a long princess braid, and of course ultra-long black hair. As with style, there are many Halloween wig color choices. After you’ve found that perfect wig, just keep on a’ going! There is sure a large selection of make-up, fingernails, fake scars and whatever else your heart desires. And don’t forget the perfect trick or treat bag.

For example, if you would like to go as a fairy, angel, bumblebee, or something else with wings this year, you can find the right costume just for you and the wings to match besides. Alternatively, you can also use wings to dress up a costume in a way that’s creative and that someone else might not have thought of, such as a demon or devil, as you celebrate Halloween.

If you do decide on a Pegasus you may need to enlist a partner to complete the costume. It’s hard to pull off an entire horse costume complete with wings without two people. But, you may be able to think of something.

If you don’t want to deal with relying on a partner, then a one-person costume may be more your style, you could add “Fairy” wings to your bat, vampire, vampires, devil or flying fish costume. Keep in mind that most wings are made of netting, gauze or feathers. Not the best accompany on a rainy night. If you do decide on Halloween wings, you may also need a Halloween umbrella.

While you at it, remember to pick out any other Halloween accessory props, so you are as authentic looking as possible while attending your costume parties or trick or treating door to door. While considering your Halloween costume, you can choose from crowns of royalty to the courts jester as well as a Viking, witch, Indian Chief or bride. Then again, you may be interested in a fairy wand, the staff of a wizard, the sword of a pirate or other type of fake weaponry to accentuate you Halloween costume.

Don’t forget to add shoes, socks, gloves and or a petticoat. These basic, but most necessary Halloween items will help create the perfect Halloween costume. You may even like it enough to wear it two years in a row! Edited by Glinda Zuladra
