Vegetarian vs Non-Vegetarian Spouses: Tips for Surviving

Monday, August 15th, 2011

Vegetarians enjoy plenty of health benefits. Even with these benefits in mind, most people can’t give up eating meat. Being married to someone that doesn’t share this lifestyle can be very difficult.

Your spouse needs to understand that you aren’t doing it to spite them, but that you’re doing it for the health benefits instead. Each one of you need to respect the other’s decision and avoid arguing about it.

One of the first things you’ll need to do is come up with more recipes. You may have to look long and hard to find dishes that satisfy you both. You shouldn’t expect your non-vegetarian spouse to eat meals that he or she doesn’t like at all.

When the two of you decide to go out for dinner, things can especially get difficult. Hopefully, the menu will have items that are suitable for vegetarians. Therefore, it’s important that the two of you plan your dinner dates carefully. You should try to find a restaurant that offers something for both of your tastes.

Many vegetarians want their partners to join them to share the health benefits. It’s important that you don’t try to pressure him or her into making the switch though. You don’t want to argue over something so trivial.

The best way to go about it is to enjoy your decision yourself. If your partner sees how much your life has improved after making the change, he or she may decide to make the switch too.

Having reading materials around the home is also a good idea. This way, spouses can learn about the topics themselves instead of having you try to teach them about it. Deciding to make the change themselves is much better than you trying to force it on them.

If you have children in the future, the situation will become even more difficult. The two of you will need to sit down and make decisions about your child’s diet. Sit down and make compromises and take everyone’s opinions on the subject into account.

You should also be aware that becoming a vegetarian isn’t for everyone. You shouldn’t try to force the decision down your spouse’s throat. Merely living these two different lifestyles will present obstacles in itself. If you have trouble working through these issues, then it may be helpful to consult an outside party.Doc No.lkhjsdklsd-ssj

One-of-a-Kind Bridesmaid Dresses

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

While many people like the tradition selection of bridesmaid dresses, it is not unusual for some to prefer to find something that is truly unique and unusual when selecting attire for the bridal party. If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind bridesmaid dress for your wedding, you will need to look beyond the obvious.

There are many designers who specialize in bridesmaid attire. Many of these designers not only have a great selection of dresses that are unique and unusual, but they will also design dresses on order. If you have an idea of what you are looking for in your bridesmaid dresses, you can talk to a designer and get a custom design to match your dreams of a unique bridesmaid dress.

Of course, going directly to a designer can be expensive. Fortunately, there are other options to consider. Many seamstresses are capable of altering basic dress patterns into something that is truly unique, yet easy to make. If you can find a pattern that you like, but want it adjusted, try talking to a seamstress about your ideas. By getting your dresses custom made, you not only have control over the design, but you also have the ability to choose material that is perfect for your bridal color scheme.

If you have the time to shop around, you can mix-and-match various fashions to come up with something truly unique an unusual. Combining skirts and blouses, or other coordinates is a great way to come up with something that is different from off-the-rack bridesmaid dress options. Another idea is to accessorize traditional dresses in such a way as to make them unique.

Don’t be afraid to look beyond the traditional dress, and consider something that specifically suits your wedding. If you look around, you can find interesting dress options to fit any themed wedding. Prom dresses are another possible source that many brides overlook when planning their bridesmaid dress selection.

A bridesmaid dress does not need to be a cookie-cutter design that you could fins at any wedding. If you use your imagination and look beyond the traditional options, you can find something for your bridesmaids to wear that is truly unique.

Popular Pajama Styles For All Seasons

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

For men, women, and children alike - comfort is the name of the game when it comes to popular pajama styles. Night clothes worn by our grandparents decades ago were pajama tops with matching bottoms and nightgowns that were so big and baggy that just turning over in bed was a minor project.

Nowadays, our jammies aren’t all that different from casual hanging around the house lounging gear. Men and women both tend to wear similar outfits - long cotton or flannel pants (albeit with prints and designs that pretty much scream “Jammies”), or even shorts with elastic waists, paired with T-shirts or sleeveless tank tops. Women will wear tops, or camis, with spaghetti straps.

Women have fought for years for designers to take new lifestyles into consideration when designing nightwear. They have taken “active wear” from the gym to the living room, the office, and to the bedroom. Pure necessity has turned major retailers from “lingerie stores” into stores whose clothing lines can be adapted to various activities from cooking breakfast to picking kids up from daycare.

Women pretty much stopped buying the little silk nothings from years ago, and bought the newly designed evening active wear. Men didn’t seem to mind, either! Many men quickly learned that Mom can still look hot with a pair of shorts and a tight cami instead of those vintage penoir sets collecting dust in the closet. Retailers have quickly changed their marketing tactics from selling too much sexy sleepwear to selling more comfortable, yet sexy, alternatives.

As designers heeded the call of change from the women, they also took men’s style into consideration by designing lines of sleepwear that resembled their own active lifestyles. Some styles actually make it difficult to differentiate between the daytime outfits and the sleepwear - and that was their intention. Men were happy to adopt these new styles once they saw the flexibility and the comfort.

One reason these new styles are so comfortable is because new textile manufacturing techniques have shown us how to make flannel and cotton much softer. With combing, brushing and stone washing, there is no reason to ever have scratchy jammies on ever again!

Children’s styles haven’t actually undergone any major changes over the years! The same footed little outfits can still be found in the children’s departments of all major department stores. And of course, kids will always insist on proudly displaying their action heroes. Disney characters along with their super heroes like Iron Man and Superman are selling today like they did decades ago.
