Wonderful Presents For Men Are All Around Us…

Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

Selecting presents for men need not be a daunting task. In this article we will focus on ideas for finding and selecting that great gift. The holiday season is just around the corner, so the time to get started is now… In future articles we will feature our TOP PICKS of unique and special gifts, but for now, let’s examine ways to find the perfect gift for that special guy.

They say that one of the best ways to ensure that you get what you want is to go ahead and ask for it. So, why not ask that special guy on your list what he wants? He might not know, or might not tell you, but if you get some input on possibilities you will be that much further ahead. Be sure to listen intently to what he says, and make sure that you write your thoughts down on paper once you get a free moment. With a little deductive reasoning in your part you will have some potentially great gift ideas.

Different guys have different lifestyles. What type of lifestyle does the guy you are buying this gift for lead? Does he always seem to be working on the job? Is he a dedicated student who is working hard on getting that diploma or degree? Does he love to watch his favorite sports team on television, or even go to the games? Some guys love parties and are constantly dancing and drinking the night away. The lifestyle that a guy leads will often indicate the type of gift that he would like to receive.

What is his social status and economic level? If he’s loaded with money, he can literally afford everything he wants. There is no need to try to win him over with an expensive present when he can just go out and get it. You might want to consider getting him something more personal, like something you made yourself. It will add that personal touch and let him know that you cared enough to spend time on him.

Do you know this guy very well, or is your relationship more superficial or casual? How well you know this person will often determine the type of gift that you should get him. For example, if he is just a casual friend, getting him a suggestive T-Shirt would be inappropriate. Just consider what type of gift you would like to receive from him.

Hobbies are a great pastime, and if the guy on your gift list has a hobby, you have a great avenue on which to proceed. Gift that compliment hobbies are great to give because every time that guy spends time with his hobby, he will think of you. If you don’t know anything about this hobby, ask around. Post a question on the internet, or call a local hobby store. People love to talk about their hobbies and will give you great gift ideas.

We hope that this article has provided you with some great ideas on how to choose great presents for men. In our next article we will be offering our TOP PICKS. If you can’t wait, please navigate over to our blog to learn more.

My Top 5 Xbox 360 Games of All-Time

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

It’s amazingly been 3 whole years since I bought my Xbox 360, and I thought I’d give a quick rundown about the best games I’ve ever owned. I have a slight partiality toward sports games, so there may be a bit of a bias here. Don’t hold it against me. Nonetheless, this is about my favorites, so whatever I say goes!

5- Tiger Woods golf. I’ve always been a huge fan of this series, dating back to my high school days when the game had first come out on the Playstation system. This is as real as it gets as far as golf games go, and amazingly, the game seems to improve each time they release a new version. I love it.

4- John Madden football. I don’t even know which year to choose, I love this game so much, but if we’re talking about the Xbox 360, we have to go with the most recent one, Madden 2010. This is an exceptional football game, and after getting it wrong during the first release for the 360, the Madden series has returned to its former glory.

3. Fight Night Round 3. A classic boxing game that came out right after the launch of the Xbox 360 console. Somehow, it still feels just as new and relevant today. How many games can you say that about four years later? Enough said.

2. Call of Duty 4. The very definition of online play was changed with this game, and it was all for the better. Multi-player gaming was never as fun as it was once this game came out, and I still can’t think of a game I’d rather play online.

1. Rock Band. This one may bug some pure “gamers”, but the most fun I’ve ever had on an Xbox 360 has come from playing Rock Band, hands down. Did I mention I’m a music lover too?

Learn how to fix the RROD at my xbox 360 repairs blog.

Review Of The Panasonic EP30003 TU Massage Chair

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

We evaluate the Panasonic Real Pro Ultra in 5 categories including Warranty & Customer Service, Comfort/Ergonomics, Ease of Use, Features and Massage Therapy. Each individual category is given equal weight of 20 potential points. This systematic approach helps to present massage chairs from the same vantage point to help make comparison easier. If you are looking for a massage chair, then check out the Real Pro Ultra. The model EP 30003 is a mid range model.

Warranty & Customer Service: It is important that the manufacturer stand behind its product and provides good customer service. Panasonic has 1 year labor and 3 year parts. Panasonic uses a counter to monitor the machine hours. The warranty will expire after 1,000 hours of use. Panasonic has average warranty coverage. Customer service is through your retailer or national service centers. Service time and quality is variable and dependent on where service is obtained. Our Rating in this category is 16.

Comfort & Ergonomics: Ergonomics is the practical element of design for comfort and fit of the body. The massage chair is built for relaxation, so the design must assist in getting the user comfortable and within reach. Panasonic takes ergonomics serious and does a solid job with the Real Pro Ultra. The back pad is plush, with an adjustable head pillow. The armrests are padded. The remote is fairly simple and intuitive for a massage chair. One area that is lacking is a footrest extension. This chair was not originally designed for the American market, so taller users may not fit as well. We rate this chair as a 17 for ergonomics. The head pillow can be adjusted to fit different heights of users. The arm rests are padded and are fairly wide. The footrest does not extend, so this can be problematic for taller users. Taller users would have to bend their knees to get a foot massage or extend the footrest horizontal to and put their legs through. Our rating in this category is 17.

Ease of Use: With more and more features, options and choices being offered in massage chairs, ease of use is important. Some remote controls are clustered with a mind boggling array of controls. The problem is to learn all these options. The top manufacturers design controls and adjustments to be intuitive and easy to understand and use. Panasonic has vast experience with electronics and uses that to keep its controls simple and intuitive. The control is well designed and the descriptions accurate to keep learning fast. We rate it an 18 for this category.

Key Features: The Real Pro Ultra by Panasonic has an pressure point sensor and the exclusive Junetsu massage therapy. The human body has around 350 pressure points. There are almost 100 for the back, neck and shoulders. The EP 30003 has a body scan to sense these pressure points. It then tailors the shiatsu style massage to the individual user. Panasonic also developed the Junetsu massage therapy into this model. The Junetsu uses firm pressure with a penetrating circular motion for the back. This is a unique massage offered only by Panasonic. We give the EP 30003 an 18 in this category.

Massage Therapy: The lower body air massage has 14 strategically placed air bags. These air bags cover the calves and feet. It also includes the foot reflexology massage. The really fine kneading is a new feature by Panasonic called Junetsu. This massage penetrates deeply providing effective relief. At the top of the control there are 5 automatic programs which include: Refresh, Shiatsu, Deep, Swedish and Stretch. You can also select from 4 manual massage techniques and choose 4 manual massage courses. Manual controls include tapping, kneading, rolling and combination. This midrange model scores a 19 rating.

Ok, the moment of truth. The overall rating for the Panasonic EP 30003 is an 88/100. This is a solid rating for a solid chair. The Real Pro Ultra is a good performer in the mid range massage chair market. The reflexology foot massage and the addition of Junetsu massage is great value at this price point. The warranty is OK. You would hope for better protection from Panasonic, so check out an extended warranty. This is a long term investment for your health. If you are tall, then you may want to try this chair to see how well you fit. If you are looking for a mid range shiatsu massage chair recliner then this could be a good choice for you.

NFL Admits to Error in Planning at Cowboys Stadium

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

The subject of much NFL chatter these days has revolved around the new video unit inside the brand new Cowboys Stadium. This is the largest high definition video unit in existence, and is one of many luxuries present in the new stadium. There was an event that took place a few weeks ago that leads many to believe there was poor planning with respect to this unit.

Just a few weeks ago, during the first ever game played inside Cowboys Stadium, the team faced off against the Tennessee Titans in a preseason football game. During this game, a ball was kicked by Tennessee’s punter. The punted ball went high enough to hit the video unit, leading to immediate concerns that its height must be adjusted.

Fortunately, the NFL is not only taking the blame for poor planning, but has vowed to fix the issue as quickly as it possibly can.

This report essentially states that Ray Anderson, who heads up operations for the league, admitted that the league should have done some more research into the ideal height for this video screen, as it could clearly be an issue during the season.

Anderson has come out and stated that the height estimations that the NFL put together were way off base, and that the planning done with respect to this unit was far from proper. The league kind of just “winged it”, assuming that 85 or 90 feet would be ample as far as the height went. He also promised that the issue will be fixed as soon as possible.

Jerry Jones, owner of the dallas Cowboys, also vowed to correct the issue. Until the unit itself can be moved, he’s stated that an ad hanging from the bottom of the unit will be taken away.

This video unit has a reported value of $40 million, and spans over 60 yards in length, as it extends from the 20 yard line, all the way to the other one. The height of this board is 73 feet.

At the end of the day, this is an issue that must be dealt with. The stadium is a beautiful one, but there’s no question that playability is more important than glitz when it comes down to it. Look for a quick solution to the issue based on the above.

Be Proud of the NHL and Wear Your Hockey Jerseys Everywhere

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

Hockey is a great sport, possibly the best sport in the history of sports, but it doesn’t get as much publicity as it should. People just don’t seem to be interested in the high speed, high skill, high intensity, high impact game that is hockey and so television networks aren’t broadcasting as many games and the games they do broadcast aren’t very good. As hockey fans we need to try and gather support for our favorite sport. We need to wear our hockey jerseys whenever we can (without looking like fools) so that everyone knows we love hockey and those who love us will eventually love it too.

There is nothing more spectacular than looking out amongst the stands during a hockey game and seeing just about every single person in the stadium wearing the same hockey jersey. If you don’t wear your jerseys anywhere else, you must wear them to the hockey games. Better yet, wear them to and from the hockey game as well. Make a day of it, wear your hockey jersey to work before the game and then wear it to the game. Spread the interest and let everyone know that you are going to the game tonight and they should too.

Beer and hockey go very well together and that’s why you should always try to wear a hockey jersey when you head out to your favorite sports bar. Hang out with all of your buddies at the bar and have a few cold ones and talk about all the best hockey plays. Speak loudly and boast about your favorite team. Try to get the rest of the bar involved and make sure that the televisions are playing hockey and not something stupid like basketball.

This should be a no brainer but if you are a hockey fan you should also love playing hockey. That means you’re going to get out on the rink, be it ice or cement, and play hockey as much as you possibly can. That also means that you should be wearing your hockey jerseys out on the rink as much as possible too. I like to own one home and one away jersey so that I can switch colors during pick up games to balance the teams.

While you’re reading this article you should be wearing a hockey jersey. Even though no one else can see you while you are sitting around your house you should still do your best to wear a hockey jersey so that you get in the habit of putting it on. If you wear it all the time around the house you will eventually start wearing it all the time out in public and that’s exactly what we want.

The possibilities are endless for wearing your hockey jerseys. The great thing about them is that they are so artistic and so brilliant that they are a fashion statement to wear them. Movie stars and super models have worn hockey jerseys in famous movies and there is no excuse for you not to wear them if you support your team. Support the NHL and get people talking about how much you love hockey.

Doug loves hockey but he especially loves youth hockey jerseys. He discusses hockey and hockey goalie jerseys at his blog.

The Courtballistec 1.3 Sneaker Serves Up an Ace

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Rafael Nadal has never liked change. The same player who lines up his water bottles just right after every court change and was hesitant to put sleeves on also didn’t want to give up his Nike Breathe Cages for the Nike Air Courtballistec 1.3.

However, after practicing and becoming comfortable with the Nike Air Courtballistec 1.3, he headlines the group of professionals set to where perhaps the nicest colorway to come out. Using white, black and Midwest gold, the shoe is easy to match with yet still bold like you would expect from the most exciting player in tennis.

The shoe can look great, but most want to know how it feels. After breaking in, we found the Nike Air Courtballistec 1.3 is even more comfortable than the popular Nike Cages and Breathe Frees from previous generations.

While the Courtballistec 1.3 is a little heavier than your typical tennis sneaker, you wouldn’t even notice this once they’re on your feet. I won’t go as far as saying they felt like running sneakers, but they were far from heavy.

There’s some new technology at play in these sneakers too. With some great padding in the middle of the sneaker, the LunarLight makes its presence known, helping to balance things out really nicely. As far as the DragOn X, it gives you just the right amount of toe padding to ensure your feet remain blister-free.

One important thing to note about these shoes is you probably will not be able to wear them to play tennis the first day you buy them. With the Nike Air Courtballistec 1.3, they take a little while to break in comfortably. They arrive to you very stiff, but wearing them either around the house or casually for a day or two will break them in. Also, we’d recommend getting a half size smaller than you normally would buy. So if you wore a 10.5 in most Nike shoes, a 10 will fit you better in the Nike Air Courtballistec 1.3.

For those concerned about the wear and tear that hits all tennis shoes, there’s a little comfort here knowing that Nike gives you a six month guarantee regarding any wearing down of the sneaker. If you send the sneaker back and prove that there’s wear beyond what’s reasonable, they’ll give you a voucher for equal value to the sneaker. Not bad.

All in all, the pros wear this for a reason. It’s a great sneaker that gives you everything you’d looking for in a tennis shoe. Shop around a bit to find the best deal, because they’re out there. Good luck!yea

Tennis shoes can be hard to figure out, especially after only wearing them for a few minutes in the shoe store. Learn more about all of the Nike Air Courtballistec tennis sneakers and more about the Nike Courtballistec 1.3 sneakers at our dedicated Nike Air Courtballistec reviews site.

Why Are Tankinis So Appealing?

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

When a woman shops for a swimsuit, what is it that she’s looking for? Is it the best fit, the best deal, the best look, the best style, the trendiest new cut? I, for one, would go with great fit. That, almost always is the number one concern for the average woman. With a tankini, companies have made it mandatory to purchase separate pieces, the bottom and the top. Why?

If I need to answer that, you’re probably not a woman who wears bathing suits. Any suit-wearing woman knows the answer, and can sympathize with other women about the dilemma we all face shopping for beachwear.

Tankinis are the only style making much sense for the women. Who after all has found the perfect one-piece suit to fit all body shapes? Not one. Might I add that no research was required of me to make that statement.

Women also have suits for different occasions. She may want one to wear in the privacy of her own home and a separate one to wear in public places. The good thing about tankinis is that you can actually coordinate them with your favorite outfit and wear them simultaneously for the perfect combination of public and private.

You can even wear the full top with your less than full bottoms at home. Go with a longer skirt to go over top while in public, and you can change it up to add a skimpier top to the skirted bottoms for a nice change. The options are endless with tankinis.

People are turning to tankinis because they offer swimsuit solutions that were previously unavailable in any type of suit. I personally love tankinis.

Be aware though that finding a tankini that fits just right might still be an issue. My guess is that after shopping for just a few minutes, you’ll find what you want. If all else fails, just abandon that lines and the crowds and hop online.

By finding your tankini online, you’re saving money, shopping quickly, and getting what you want, how you want it. That’s my kind of shopping. What’s more, you don’t have to try on your suit in front of the nearest onlooker. I’ll take that benefit any day.

Nike Shoes Then and Now

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ve probably heard of Nike shoes and are familiar with their swoosh logo. These popular shoes are sold all over the world and are worn by children, men, women, and professional athletes. You’d be hard pressed to walk into any shoe store and not find a pair of Nike shoes for sale.

The original swoosh logo was originally designed in 1971 by a student studying graphic design at Portland State University. Carolyn Davidson was paid $35 for the famous design but some sources say that the co-founder of Nike, Phil Knight, later bought her a diamond ring engraved with the Nike logo and also an undisclosed amount of Nike stock after she left the company in 1983. It’s interesting to note that Knight originally wasn’t too impressed with Davidson’s work. He said, “I don’t love it, but it will grow on me.”

In 2008 Nike made a net income of $1.9 billion dollars. Not bad for a business that started with a couple of guys selling sneakers out of the back of their van. This is the perfect example of capitalism in action and what can happen if you set goals and work hard. As of late, the company has received bad press due to claims associated with poor working environments and human rights issues with workers overseas.

The name Nike comes from the Greek goddess of victory, and like many other successful companies, had a humble beginning. Philip Knight was a track athlete at the University of Oregon and joined up with his coach, Bill Bowerman, in 1964 to sell shoes out of their cars at track meets. At that time they called themselves Blue Ribbon Sports.

Blue Ribbon Sports started developing their own personal line of shoes in 1971. Before that they sold shoes manufactured and produced by a Japanese company. In the beginning they specialized in shoes designed for football and eventually began making other types of shoes. The Blue Ribbon Sports name was dropped in 1978. By 1980, fifty percent of shoes sold in the U.S. were Nike.

In the past Nike once owned rights to the Bauer Hockey and Starter sprots brands. It currently own numerous other sports apparel companies including Converse and Umbro. You can also still find Nike headquarters in the state of Oregon where it all began over 30 years ago.

Nike Shoes continue to be popular today among professional athletes, sports enthusiasts, and those just looking for a comfortable and attractive pair of sneakers. While Nike is often criticized by others for its mass appeal, I’m sure the co-founders would argue that success never comes easy.
